At dusk looking northeast across the Lake, the Blue Ridge Mountains emerge in a royal purple hue with a subtle pink sky backdrop. As you walk softly through the forest trails you can hear the sounds of rushing streams, and the scampering of deer, grouse, wild turkey, beaver and fox.

During the day you can travel along the Zell Miller Mountain Parkway visiting antique shops, Indian burial grounds and Track Rock archaeological site, art galleries and more. Take in a walking tour of waterfalls or ride the valley on horseback. The trout are always biting at specially designated fishing holes this time of year.

When all that fresh air has stimulated your appetite, you can embark on a food fest, for this little mountain enclave has a plethora of dining choices. If it’s “low country cookin’ you are hankerin’ fer”, you will love our fluffy biscuits, BBQ, smoked trout and real sausage gravy. But don’t let your palette be satisfied just there. There’s international cuisine including Thai, Cuban, Mexican, Oriental, Italian and Caribbean Island fare. For seafood lovers there are a bounty of choices and mouthwatering steaks and chops are grilled to perfection at many of our fine dining establishments.
